Rudy Green

Of Blessed Memory 1929-2020

Rudy Green was born in Idstein, Germany in 1929.  Rudy remembers being in elementary school when Santa Claus came to the classroom and brought presents for all the children, except the Jewish ones.  He also remembers classmates doing the Heil Hitler salute.

Rudy’s uncle, who had immigrated to the United States in the late 1800s, sponsored Rudy’s family and his grandmother to enter the United States in 1937.  Rudy’s mother’s family were not able to leave Germany and did not survive the Holocaust.
