This course focuses on the effective integration of primary source testimony in Holocaust education. Sessions related directly to MCHE’s six-part documentary series featuring Kansas City survivors in the Witnesses to the Holocaust Archive will be led by members of the Isak Federman Holocaust Teaching Cadre with oversight by MCHE’s Jessica Rockhold, Director of School Programs and Teacher Education. Special attention will be paid to analyzing testimony, determining the role of memory in history, and personalizing the Holocaust. Participants will gain hands-on practice with primary source analysis, familiarity with local survivor testimonies, and access to newly written lesson plans directly tied to these documentaries.
