Collapsing Democracy, Rising Fascism: Lessons from Germany
Professor Andrew Stuart Bergerson is a specialist in the history of everyday life in modern Germany at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the author of multiple books on the history and memory of the Third Reich, and a member of the Holocaust Academic RoundTable at the MCHE. In this session, he discussed the collapse of democracy, the rise of fascism, the acceleration towards genocide, and the politics of normalcy in Germany from the perspective of ordinary Germans.
