MCHE European Study Experience

In 2023 MCHE launched this biennial Holocaust Study Tour for MCHE members. Our next tour is scheduled for September 2025 and is fully enrolled. The next opportunity for enrollment will be sent to MCHE members in early 2026 for our 2027 experience.

The memory of the Holocaust is woven into the fabric of modern Europe. These two week tour experiences take you to the sites of the Holocaust – bringing history to life as you encounter the authentic space in which these events transpired. These tours explore the layers of history and memory and give you a deeper understanding of this event and its impact on the people who experienced it.

To prepare you for each travel experience, MCHE offers a series of learning sessions, taught by Dr. Shelly Cline and Jessica Rockhold, examining the history of each location included in the itinerary. Participants are be provided with optional reading lists. These sessions build critical background knowledge that allows our groups to maximize their learning on the ground in each location.

The tour is managed by MCHE educators, Dr. Shelly Cline and Jessica Rockhold who also lead all pre-trip education. Once on the ground in Europe we are joined by a professional tour facilitator who manages our travel through Europe. At each location we also work with local guides licensed to lead tours in their home countries.
