Join Dr. Shelly Cline and Jessica Rockhold from the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education for a critical examination of the Oscar-nominated film, “Zone of Interest.”
Many are shocked to learn that the Commandant of Auschwitz lived with his family directly adjacent to Auschwitz I. This talk will explore the problematic juxtaposition between the world of terror experienced by those within the camp and the ordinary lives lived beyond the wall. It will also discuss the challenges and pitfalls of Holocaust representation in film.
This event, hosted by the Jewish Community Congregation, was made possible (in part) by the Lindenbaum Family Fund for Holocaust Education, honoring Sig and Loraine Lindenbaum.
Our mission is to teach the history of the Holocaust, applying its lessons to counter indifference, intolerance, and genocide.
